About Alaska Outdoor Access Alliance

The Alaska Outdoor Access Alliance (AOAA) is a statewide coalition dedicated to protecting and preserving public access to Alaska’s lands and waters.

Access is not a luxury in Alaska — it’s a way of life. From subsistence and recreation to tourism, transportation, and local economies, Alaskans rely on the ability to reach and responsibly use public lands. AOAA exists to ensure that access decisions are balanced, informed, and reflect the voices of the people who live, work, and recreate here.

We advocate for responsible, multi-use access, recognizing that Alaska’s lands support many users and traditions. Our work focuses on education, collaboration, and policy engagement to prevent unnecessary closures, correct misinformation, and promote stewardship-based land management.

AOAA brings together organizations, communities, and individuals from across the state to engage constructively in land-use discussions and decision-making processes. We believe lasting solutions come from transparency, local knowledge, and respect for Alaska’s unique landscapes and communities.

Our goal is simple:

Keep Alaska accessible — now and for future generations.
